Children under the age of 16 do NOT need a out of state fishing license in Alaska. The best time to take your sons to Alaska for them is during the pink salmon run, (July through August) as this species is plentiful, and can be caught very easily.  We have consistently dependable weather during the months of July through August making a day of ocean fishing for rock fish, halibut, Ling Cod and Silver Salmon fun for all ages.
