Q - Does the Lodge have guides available for fishing?

Yes, we can accommodate any combination wanted. We have river guides that can take you down the river every day or just one day to get you started.

Q - Do you have corporate rates (package) available?

Q - What kind of ocean fishing is available in the Yakutat area?

Glacier Bear Lodge can arrange a wide range of ocean fishing packages. Species range from halibut in under 100 feet of water to Ling Cod to Chinook (king) salmon just off the harbor in calm water. We can arrange any type of trip for ocean fishing desired. !

Q - What other activities area available besides fishing does Yakutat have to offer?

Glacier Bear Lodge can arrange hiking day trips and scenic boat trips to the Hubbard Glacier. If you would like to take a scenic flight around the area, we can arrange that for you also. The area is a photographers paradise - the wildflowers of the summer and the Alaska wildlife viewing and scenery are spectacular.

We can arrange scenic tour flights for your party.

Q - Do you have boats to rent?

Yes, Glacier Bear Lodge has drift boats to rent as well as jon boats for the river or the harbor.

Q - I have two sons, ages 12 and 15, that I would like to take to Alaska. What is the best time of the year for that, and do they need a license to fish?

Children under the age of 16 do NOT need a out of state fishing license in Alaska. The best time to take your sons to Alaska for them is during the pink salmon run, (July through August) as this species is plentiful, and can be caught very easily. The first Saturday in August is Fairweather Day, where the locals and visitors to Yakutat go out to Cannon Beach celebrate with food and music, and games for the children. A good times is always had by all!

Q - Do you have fishing gear? 

No. Glacier Bear Lodge does not have fishing gear. We recommend that you bring your own fishing gear. What you do not have can be found within a few minutes from one of our local tackle shops.

Q - Is there a restaurant at the Lodge? What kind of food do you serve?

We have a full service resturant and lounge that serves everything from your standard bar food to complete dinners with an empahisis on local sea food. Prime Rib is also a weekly feature at Glacier Bear Lodge on Saturday nights. Continental breakfasts is available Monday through Friday from 6-9am

Q - Can our catch be stored at your lodge?

Yes, Glacier Bear Lodge has two large walk in freezers to store you catch. We have a complete fish cleaning station with stainless steel tables. Waxed boxes are available to store, pack and ship your catch.

Q - Can we rent a vehicle during our stay?

You can rent a vehicle locally to get around to the best spots to fish. Glacier Bear Lodge provides airport transportation for incoming and outbound flights.

Q - How do you get to Yakutat?

Mostly by air. Yakutat is served by Alaska Airlines direct jet service from Seattle daily. Visit our travel to Yakutat page.
